First images of Singapore

This is my apartment building on the corner of Clemenceau and River Valley.  The first 5 floors are a small Shop'n'Save supermarket, tailor, restaurants.  But for shopping I usually end up walking down to Liang Court where there is a Daimaru (Japanese supermarket & dept store), Rainforest Cafe, Starbucks, McDonalds, VCD store.
View from my room.  The vast majority of Singaporeans live in HDB (housing dev't board) hi-rise flats that are subsidized by the government.  Even so the price is S$300-400K.  Cars are extremely expensive, in order to limit the number (remember Singapore is very small).  The COE permit that allows you to purchase a car is usually S$30k (US$18k), and a modest 4-door sedan is S$80k-$100k (US$56-60k).

Jumbo seafood is one of the seafood restaurants at East Coast Parkway
Chilli Crab!!  Very popular, very expensive (US$50-60?) Indonesian? crab.

Beautiful Hindu temple in Little India area.  There is a GREAT indian restaurant behind, called "Delhi".
Clarke Quay area across the street from my apt.  The Quays have great (expensive) restaurants, bars, discos, shops.

Another shot of Clarke Quay.
